The Palermo Polo Open starts being played at 1893, some years later since British people introduced this traditional sport to Argentina. 122º years have passed of that first opportunity in where the Hurlingham team composed by Francisco J.Balfour, Frank Furber, C.J. Tetley and Hugo Scott-Robson won that final. Since that moment, every year many teams with the best polo players and horses of the planet, play for the glory and honour of the world polo.

The final of the Palermo Polo Open of 2014, played by La Dolfina against Ellerstina on its version 121º, was extremely different from that played on 1893, because of the professionalism, the changes in the form of playing, the genetics of the horses and the technology used; they converted this in a spectacular show to see and enjoy from a good moment.

La Dolfina arrived unbeaten to that special match, and if he won that final, equalize the historic mark of the team Coronel Suarez lead by Juan Carlos Harriot, winning the double consecutive triple crown.

Approximately forty celsius degrees and all prepared to start, everyone knew it would be a very hard match. La Dolfina hit from the first moment to Ellerstina, he had not passed more than thirty seconds, and the team marked the one cero through the uruguayan David Stirling. The match maintains balanced since a long time, and Ellerstina defended by the hand of the expert in penalties and the perfect ten goaler, Facundo Pieres, who shortened distances between La Dolfina.

The match continued, and the physical exhaustion arrived in a match charge of passion and emotion, leaving that demostrated in the death of a horse “Anay Sur Cielito”, played by Juan Martín Nero of La Dolfina in the middle of the field and the tiredness of some players.

Everything was defined in the eighth and last chucker, in where La Dolfina runs with a small advantage in the goal counter. The desperation of Ellerstina began to feel, while La Dolfina approached to the glory. They began hugging between players, the final bell rings, finally being victory of the team lead by best polo player of the history, Adolfo Cambiaso, breaking al the records and getting into the top of the world polo.
